step 1
See Appendix A – using Peak Software Package, follow directions for creating a file to analyze the effect of lift vs. drag forces on the flight path of each type of volleyball serve; identify the reflective tape on the volleyball and the shoulder, elbow and wrist joints to be digitized for data collection

See Appendix A – using Peak Software Package, follow directions for creating a file to analyze sprint start and squat exercise data; identify the ankle, knee, hip, vertebral column, shoulder, elbow and wrist as the joints to be analyzed

step 2
Digitize the reflective ends of the meter stick to convert pixels to the appropriate unmit of length
(i.e., 1 pixel equals ___ mm)
Digitize the reflective ends of the meter stick to convert pixels to the appropriate unit of length
(i.e., 1 pixel equals ___ mm)
step 3
Select one correct and complete recording of each type of serve to be analyzed Select the best sprint start and squat exercise for each athlete (which will reflect 3 different ability levels); use these to qualitatively compare and contrast the following:
a) sequence and timing of lever segment movements
b) types of motion occurring at the joints
step 4   For each type of volleyball serve, crop out the video recording frames which include the hand contacting the ball, the flight path of the ball, the ball making contact with the ground and the apex of the bounce height of the volleyball. a) crop out the video recording of the frames which include the sprinter’s hands first lifting off of the track until the sprinter’s lead leg clears the front of the starting block b) crop out the video recording of the frames of the squat exercise which include the beginning of the downward motion until the weight lifter returns to the starting position
step 5 Utilizing the automatic digitizing mode, digitize the selected data points from the initial ball strike to the apex of the bounce height Utilizing the automatic digitizing mode, digitize all joints (meta-tarsal phalangeal joint through wrist) for each activity
step 6 Quantify and graph the ROM and linear velocity for the selected joints, the linear velocity of the volleyball, the time while the hand was in contact with the ball, the trajectory of the ball during the serve, the time while the ball remained a projectile, the angle of incidence and reflection for each serve and the apex of the bounce height for each serve Quantify and graph for each joint: angular ROM, angular velocity and angular acceleration; graph trajectory of the center of mass of the athlete during the activity and graph trajectory of the weighted bar during the squat exercise
