Assassins – Sponsored by Phi Kappa Sigma
Summary:
Assassin (also called Gotcha, Assassins,
Paranoia, Killer, or Elimination) is a game commonly played among
close-knit groups of people, such as college campuses and high
school communities. In Assassin the players' goal is to eliminate
other players from the game, and to be the last surviving player.
Play is not restricted to a specific time interval, but is
integrated into the players' everyday activities. A game will last
for an indefinite period of time, and while the game is in progress,
all players are targets of a least one other player, and are
targeting at least one other player. The game is intended to induce
an atmosphere of paranoia, since an assassination attempt could
occur at almost any time.
Objective:
Kill your target (please don’t actually kill them. For liability reasons, ya know.)
Safe Zones:
Academic Lectures/Classes, People who are working, Religious Services (Wismer is NOT a safe zone)
Witnesses:
There can be no witnesses to a direct kill. There can be witnesses to an indirect kill, provided they didn’t see you set it up. If you are witnessed trying to make a direct kill, the kill does not count.
Police Squad:
Once you are eliminated, you may choose to join the police squad. Attempted eliminations made in the presence of a policeman (or woman) not only do not count, but the policeman (or woman) can attempt to eliminate the would-be assassin.
Eliminations:
Direct:
Melee: Silverware and sharpies count as melee weapons. To make an elimination with silverware, touch it to the target. To eliminate your target with a sharpie, draw on them.
Ranged: Nerf guns are the only ranged weapon. The nerf dart must hit the person for it to count as an elimination.
Once eliminated: Tell the person who assassinated you who your target was and e-mail jabranham (at) ursinus dot edu.
Indirect:
Poison: You may poison someone by writing a note saying “poison” and placing it under the target’s food. If they eat the food before finding the note, they are eliminated. If they find the note first, the food is “cleansed.”
Bombs: You may mail someone a piece of paper saying “Boom!” on it. If they open the envelope/package and read it, they’re dead.
Entry: There is a $5 entry fee. The winner will take half the pot, with the other half donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. If you want to enter, e-mail your name, MSC number, and dorm room to jabranham (at) ursinus dot edu.
These are the specific rules we’ll be playing with. For a more in-depth analysis of the game, try: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassin_(game)
