Ursinus College is pleased to announce the celebration of the life and
achievements of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., on January
21-25, 2008. There will be several activities for the college and town
community, including an Ecumenical Service, a discussion panel, a
Candlelight Vigil, and a Performance Event. Our theme for this year is
"Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Spirit in Action."
The King celebration organizing committee invites all faculty and
students to participate in the celebration with their classes. Since it
is the first day of school, we hope that you will take the time to
attend either the Ecumenical Service or several sessions during the
Freedom School. The Freedom School consists of (sixteen) one hour-long
sessions examining the impact of King, the Civil Rights Movement, and
the African American struggle for freedom on American democracy and
human rights around the world. All sessions are presented by members of
the Ursinus Community. Please show your support. Hope to see you there!
Questions about
this event should be forwarded to Dr. Walter Greason, the KING Planning
Committee Chairman via email at
wgreason@ursinus.edu.
