Color Printing

Epson Stylus 500. The Epson Stylus 500 is not networked and must
be connected to the computer from which you wish to print. The driver for
this computer on Macintoshes is labeled Epson Color. The driver
for this printer (Epson Stylus Color 500) is also installed on the
PC's attached to the GCD, voltammetric apparatus, and IR equipment in the
Instrument Room. (posted: 26 August 1999)

Epson Stylus 850N. This printer is networked and is currently found
next to the GCD in the Instrument Room. On PC's the printer is usually
called Epson Stylus Color ESC/P 2 or Epson Stylus Color 850.
If you have problems printing, check the printer's properties and make
sure that the driver is either Epson Stylus Color ESC/P 2 or Epson
Stylus Color 850 and that the port is \\MYRIN\CHEMEPSON.

Hewlett Packard Series 400. This printer is currently connected
to the Perkin-Elmer Series 4 HPLC but can be connected to any DOS- or Windows-based
computer if drivers are installed. Different cartridges must be installed
for black and white and color printing. (posted: 16 April 1999)

Black and White Laser Printing

Hewlett Packard Series 4000. This type of printer is currently
found in the Instrumentation Lab (Pfahler 316) and in the Student Write-Up
Area in Pfahler 308. This printer is networked and has a resolution
of up to 1200 dpi. On PC's the printer is usually called HP LaserJet
4000 PCL 6. If you have problems printing to the printer in the
Instrumentation Laboratory, check the printer's properties and make sure
that the driver is HP LaserJet 4000 PCL 6 and the port is \\MYRIN\CHEM_HP_3D_FLOOR.

Apple LaserWriters. Two different Apple LaserWriters are found
in the Student Write-Up Areas in Pfahler 305 and 311. These computers

SGI in Science Resource Center (Pfahler 112)

Spartan is installed on this computer. This is a full-featured modeling
program that allows one to perform molecular mechanical, semi-empirical,
ab
initio, and density functional calculations. Much more powerful

Computers in Student Write-Up Areas

These computers are for the use of Chemistry research students in each
area. All computers are PC's that are equipped with Pentium 266 or 166
MHz processors. The same software is loaded as can be found on computers
in computer laboratories around campus. (updated: 7 March 2000))

First priority for these computers are for students who are using the
