Ursinus College Chemistry Department Computer Information
Announcements
-
The Student Write-Up Areas (Pfahler 305, 308,
311) have been equipped with better computers (all PC's) and laser printers.
All computers have been equipped with the same programs as computers in
the campus computer laboratories. If you need data off the computers
that were previously in these rooms, you can find the PC that was in Pfahler
308 in Pfahler 316, and the rest of Macintoshes and PC's in Pfahler 301
or 302 (Advanced Analytical or PChem laboratories). If your computer
is not connected to the printer in your room, click here
for instructions. (posted: 7 March 2000)

Macintoshes and PC's for general use are located in the Science Resource
Center on the 1st floor of Pfahler (Pfahler 112). The Macintoshes
in this room have Microsoft Word and Excel, ChemDraw, KaleidoGraph, and
MacSpartan installed. The PC's have Microsoft Word, Excel, KaleidaGraph,
ChemDraw, and Chem3D (molecular modelling software). ChemDraw and
Chem3D are also available in the computer room in the basement of Pfahler.

A computer has been placed in the new Chemistry Library. This computer
should only be used to access the Library catalog (http://myrin.ursinus.edu/mbs_info.htm)
and the Library Home page (http://myrin.ursinus.edu/default.asp).

Network Connections
-
All network connections (allowing you to use e-mail, Internet, and network
printers) use Novell client software. This is the same system used
throughout campus. "Guest" accounts are no longer valid. You
must sign-on to all computers with your own username and password. (18
