Research Interests - Dr. Kate Goddard
Dr. Goddard and her students study the effect of pollution on the health of the fish in the Darby Creek watershed. They are currently assessing the parasite burden on a small species of fish called the black-nose dace at four sites in the watershed. Students can become involved in this research during the academic year or during the summer through our NSF funded Research Opportunities for Undergraduates grant. Dr. Goddard and students in her Project Pericles funded course on watershed ecology take elementary school children to creeks to determine which species of invertebrates are present; invertebrates differ in their pollution tolerance and thus can be used as indicators of water quality.
